"PLANETPOUTY", AND THE POSSIBLE FUTURE FOR FEMALE R&B

Throughout the history of R&B, the female vocal has been one of the most prevalent features in the genre. Not discluding the male legends, with obvious names including Marvin Gaye, Al Green, or even Usher, to name a few, but the female voice has so much power and essence in the R&B landscape that without it, the genre just wouldn't be the same.
But as of today, (March 2026) the genre is not the same. At least a decade (or even two decades) ago we had Beyonce closer to her prime, Rihanna was dropping hit after hit, SZA was rising to the mainstream, and even the highly underated Jorja Smith was gaining steam in the late 2010s. Now today there are still relevant artists in the genre, don't get me wrong, SZA herself is still going strong, artists like Summer Walker and H.E.R. still have monthly listeners going into the double digit millions on streaming platforms, and for male R&B artists, well, they still are doing pretty good as well. We got newer artists like Giveon, having his hit song "Heartbreak Anniversary" constantly playing on the radio from the grocery store speakers... Including the one I work at :)
So... as male R&B still have a presence in the mainstream space, even if its glissening with features from other aspiring artists, or even bigger acts, (which is completely fine) most of the female R&B acts, if they are well known, are at least arleady three quarters of a decade to a decade old. Not many up and coming thrilling acts seem like they are around the corner. This is what I thought sense like... 2022? Until I found a little, lets just say entity... on a spotify playlist (one of the first playlists [untitled] Forever was ever put onto for that matter) in late December of 2025.
So...
The very first artist that [untitled] will be posting on the blog, and that I personally (Asher) is in love with right now, is an artist that well, I KNOW... you haven't heard of. The name of the artist, or the group (honestly have no idea), is called "PLANETPOUTY".
When I first discovered PLANETPOUTY, I was surfing through the playlist [untitled] Forever was first introduced in, checking out other artists that maybe had a simular sound or Aura that [untitled] forever has. And although PLANETPOUTY does not have the same style or formula that [untitled] has when it comes to music in itself, I was intrigued by the vocalists style, performance, cadence, and confidence all within herself. I was also fascinated by the beat production. The smoothness, the flow and vibe, and the characteristics of the elements used.
As of now, March 22nd, 2026, PlanetPouty only has 3 songs. 3 songs on one EP. Thats not a lot of material... specially to write a blog about, so there is something special, at least something I found special, about these 3 songs that I wanna talk about.
Now... there can be times where you find an artist that you really like, even small artists that aren't well know, and well, you expect... a face. A face, a description, social media, so on and so forth. You want to know more about the artist you are listening too, and specially these days to make sure its not AI... at the very least. PlanetPouty gives you nothing. Well there's at least a little something. The EP cover art (which is the same for the artist profile picture) shows a women, but its very hard to make out her features. All the bio says on Spotify is "I'm doing my best", and the label name is called "Pouty Club" which just leaves to more questions. I've looked at the credits THATS IT. That is all that we, well for right now as of 3/22/26, only I, and only one other listener (at least on Spotify) get.
